Who will be the WPC champion 2015?

Drivers from all over the World come to The Gatebil Festival at Rudskogen in Norway 10-12 July to fight for victory to become a Champion in this years’s Gatebil World Powerslide.

This year will be the 4rd time Gatebil is awarding a “World Champion in Powerslide”. The winner in 2012 was Mike “MadMike” Whiddett from New Zealand. In 2013 no one drove better than Formula Drift star Fredric Aasbø from Norway, and 2014 champion was Taavi Toomara from Estland. Drivers from 14 nations participated last year competition!

Drivers from Norway and Sweden are to be invited to participate in the competition. Drivers from other countries need to contact Gatebil if they want to drive the World Powerslide at Rudskogen 10-12 July. Write some info about yourself and the car and send some photos. Send email to: bw@gatebil.no

HOW IT WORKS – RUULES:
To win the competition you need to nail the following: Biggest angle, most smoke, highest speed and closest to the 3 clipping points (apex-cones). The speed is measured by radar in the first corner. The track goes around the long curve at the end of the track before the straight. All cars drive alone, not twin as in drifting. 3 judges give 0 to 100 points. Touch of clipping points will give fewer points.

REQUIREMENTS TO CAR’S AND DRIVERS:
Streetcars, drifting, rally, racing, rallycross – both 2WD and 4WD can participate.

QUALIFYING aAT SATURDAY JULY 11’TH
All drivers get only one run each at the qualifying on Saturday. The scores will not be announced before after the qualifying is finished. Due to limited time only 80 cars can participate.

FINAL SUNDAY JULY 12’TH
From the qualifying the 20 best drivers go to the final. All drivers get one run. A new score is calculated by the judges and the 8 best drivers are to the semi-final. The 3 best drivers from the semi-final are going to the super-final.

AWARD CEREMONY
The finalist and the winner is driving in front of the main seats directly after the final run is finish. A trophy hand out for the 6 best drivers at the award ceremony!

SCHEDULE SATURDAY
17:30 – Meet up in the line up
18:15 – Qualifying starts. 2 runs pr driver. Maximum 80 drivers (all pre signed)

SCHEDULE SUNDAY
12:30 – Meet up for the 20 qualified cars in line up
13:00 – Grid show, presentation of all finalist in front of the main seats
13:15 – Final of World Powerslide Championship 2015

Participants from Norway and Sweden must be invited to race. Participants from other countries must register as soon as possible by sending mail to bw@gatebil.no. Formula Drift USA driver Ryan Tuereck from the US drove this Russian BMW’n in 2013.

Vaughn Gittin Jr. from the United States attended Gatebil and World Powerslide Championship both in 2013 and 2014 but did not succeed in getting on the podium.
