Attention all Norwegian car enthusiasts! We are thrilled to announce an exhilarating new competition at the first Gatebil festival of 2024. Get ready for the adrenaline-pumping Gatebil Drag Race show, set to take place on Friday, May 24th, at 17:30.
The Gatebil festival is renowned for its high-octane atmosphere, bringing together car lovers from all over to celebrate their shared passion. This year, from May 24th to 26th, Vålerbanen circuit will be the epicenter of thrilling car action, community spirit, and unforgettable experiences.
The Drag Race Show
Date and Time: Friday, May 24, 2024, at 17:30.
We invite all track cars participating in regular straight runs, open or driftline, and Extreme categories at Gatebil to join the Drag Race show. If your car has a start number, has passed technical inspection, and you have attended the drivers’ briefing, you’re all set to test your reaction times against other drivers.
This competition is all about the perfect harmony between human and machine, racing head-to-head over 201 meters of track. Each driver will get one chance to launch their car and cross the finish line before their opponent. Winners will advance to race again until we crown the quickest DragRacer at Gatebil.
Event Details
- Line-Up: All participants must gather from 17:15-17:30 for sorting and warm-up at the north end of the track. The Gatebil crew will organize similar cars to compete against each other in the initial races.
- Location: The Drag Race show will take place on the longest straight at Vålerbanen circuit, adjacent to the new camping area. This location is perfect for festival campers to enjoy an evening snack while watching cars race into the sunset.
Competition Rules
This is a show competition, meaning no specialized track prep, timing systems, parachutes, or Top Fuel cars are involved. The rules, cars, and track conditions are the same as for track driving. Expect to see Porsches, Volvos, Drifting, and Extreme cars battling it out, reminiscent of the iconic races in “Fast & Furious.”
