Gatebil is kicking off the 2026 season with some – to put it mildly – heavy news: for the first time, we’re opening the doors to a dedicated heavy vehicle exhibition at Vålerbanen! This won’t just be a sideshow; it’ll be a full-scale celebration of everything that rolls on six, eight or more wheels, with the same warmth, speed and festival feel as the rest of Gatebil.
Gatebil’s truck experts will decide if your vehicle will be one of the selected ones to be displayed at the exhibition.
New this year means that whether you drive a Scania, Volvo, MAN, Mercedes, Renault, Sisu or other gems, you can pull up and camp right by the track. Imagine waking up early, pulling back the curtain on the cab and being greeted by a morning drumbeat of engines – thousands of horsepower warming the air as mechanics and drivers put the finishing touches. Days are filled with free expression on the tarmac and evenings where the camp is alive, the barbecues are going, stories are shared and the lights of chrome and paint sparkle in the night air.
The exhibition will embrace everything from fat logging trucks and muzzle veterans to tankers and modern tractor units, each with its own twist of style and function. Here you’ll find matte and high-gloss paintwork, freshly polished alloy wheels, powerful cow bumpers, LED bars, 1000 meter lights and everything else that makes a truck unique. Enthusiasts walk around the trucks and discuss everything from engine upgrades to interior choices and practical solutions – a scene where craftsmanship, pride and creativity take center stage.
No Gatebil heavy truck weekend is complete without a show: there will be an award ceremony for the toughest truck of the event, on stage and in the audience, and a grand heavy truck procession on the track where horns, engine sounds and the sight of heavy transport in formation are guaranteed to give you goosebumps. The prizes are big, the glory comes with it, and the atmosphere is at boiling point as trucks show off details that have taken hours – maybe years – to perfect. The card ceremony is a solemn yet playful moment where the audience gets to see that heavy equipment can also be audience-friendly.
