A Gatebil/Monster Energy collaboration:
Gatebil has pulled a perfect 180- and changed the plans for «Superstar Drift Challenge» at Gatebils festival at Rudskogen Norway 7-10th of July 2016. Instead a completely different, new and awesome concept has been born: «Gatebil Super 3» in cooperation with Monster Energy.
IN NORWEGIAN: Gatebil har gjort helomvending i planene for konkurransen ‘Superstar Drift Challenge’ på Gatebil Rudskogen 7-10 juli 2016. I stedet presenterer vi et helt nytt rå-kult konsept i Skandinavia: «Gatebil Super 3» i samarbeid med Monster Energy.
ENGLISH: WHY GATEBIL SUPERSTAR WON’T HAPPEN –
Gatebil Superstar Drift Challenge was meant to be a new Gatebil-concept, and top-drivers from around the world was very interested in participating. However, as the event-date approaches, we learn that alot of the drivers are hesitant to sign up. It turns out that the best drivers in the world are worried that there might be unexpectedly tough competition from the Scandinavian drivers. In addition, some of the drivers are having trouble getting cars they feel are good enough to battle for the podium, ready in time. Because of these unfortunate reasons, we felt like Gatebil Superstar would not be able to reach the international status we had ambitions for it to have. As a result, we decided to go back to the drawingboard and drum up a totally new concept which we feel will be even cooler both for the participants and the spectators- which is the before mentioned «GATEBIL SUPER 3».
IN NORWEGIAN: Et nytt konsept på Gatebil i juli skulle være ‘Gatebil Superstar Drift Challenge’, og toppførere fra hele verden viste stor interesse for å være med i konkurransen. Nå som det nærmer seg, ser vi derimot at flere av de største profilene vegrer seg for å være med. Både fordi de er redd for uventet hard motstand fra Skandinaviske førere, og fordi mange har problemer med å få på plass biler de tror er konkurransedyktige nok til å kunne hevde seg i konkurransen. Vi mener derfor ‘Gatebil Superstar’ kanskje ikke vil bli den store internasjonale konkurransen vi hadde ønsket oss, og gjør derfor helomvending og presenterer i stedet et nytt konsept vi tror blir enda kulere og råere for både deltakere og publikum – «GATEBIL SUPER 3»!
THIS IS «GATEBIL SUPER 3» –
Gatebil has noticed a new phenomenon in Asia and the USA, where the competitions includes entire teams. Each team consists of three cars, driving simultaneously on the track like a traditional drift-run. Judges awards scores from 0-100 points using the same criteria as in traditional drifting- which is speed, angle, smoke and how close the cars are to each other.
IN NORWEGIAN: Ett team består av 3 biler, som sammen kjører en løype som i et ordinært driftingløp. Dommere gir poeng fra 0 til 100 etter de samme kriterier som ved ordinær drifting: Fart, vinkel, røyk og hvor tett bilene kjører.
WHO CAN ENTER?
All licensed cars and drivers may enter the competition, and all must be registered for ordinary track-driving.
IN NORWEGIAN: Alle lisenserte løpsbiler og sjåfører med lisens kan være med i ‘Gatebil Drift Team Challenge’. Alle må være registrert for vanlig drifting frikjøring på Gatebil.

Thursday 14:00-16:00: Practice. Thursday 18:00-20:00: Qualifying. During qualification, all teams get either two or three runs each, depending on how many that are signed up for the competition. The eight best teams will progress into the finals that are held the following Friday.
Friday 19:00-20:00: Finals. All teams get one run each. Following that, the six best teams from last round will compete during one additional run to determine which teams will be left to battle it out for third, second and first place!
*There might be adjustments made to the implementation of the competition, depending on the number of teams signed up come raceday.
IN NORWEGIAN: Torsdag fra kl. 14:00 til 16:00 kjøres trening, mens kvalifisering er fra 18.00 til 20.00. I kvalifiseringen får alle team to eller tre run hver, avhengig av hvor mange som melder seg på til konkurransen. Det beste runnet til teamet avgjør poengsummen. De åtte beste teamene går videre til fredag.
Fredag fra kl. 19:00 til 20:00 kjøres finaler. Her kjører alle teamene et run hver. Deretter de seks beste et nytt run, for å avgjøre hvilke fire team som skal kjøre om første-, andre- og tredjeplass.
*Det tas forbehold om justeringer av konkurranse-oppsettet etter hvor mange team som melder seg på til konkurransen.
ENTERING THE COMPETITION –
To enter your team into the competition, please send an email at: bw@gatebil.no. The mail must contain the names of all the drivers in the team, who is appointed team-captain, information on the cars, and last but not least; the name of the team. We will applaud you for being as creative as possible with the name!
IN NORWEGIAN: For å melde på ditt team i konkurransen sender du en mail til bw@gatebil.no. Skriv navn på førere i teamet, hvem som er lagkaptein, info om biler og selvsagt det viktigste – navn på teamet. Her oppfordrer vi alle til å være mest mulig kreative, og å finne på noe kult.

14:00 – 14:30 Drivers briefing all teams. At secretariat in Pit-garage.
15:00 – 17:00 Practice (Mandatory 1 run minimum).
18:00 – 21:00 Qualifying. Two runs each team.
Friday 8th July
09:00 – 18:00 Optional free-driving after ordinary track-program
16:00 – 16:30 Drivers briefing at secretariat in Pit-garage
18:30 – 18:45 Lineup. All team-members.
18:45 – 19:00 Gridshow in front of mainstands.
19:00 – 21:00 Finals
23:00 – 23:15 Awardceremony at Monster Energy Aftertrack
