Get ready for this year’s first Gatebilfestival at Vålerbanen May 29-31, 2026!
Gatebil at Vålerbanen is undoubtedly one of the most atmospheric events. With the opportunity to camp close to the track itself – and wake up to the sound of several thousand horsepower, in free development! It has to be said that this is an experience car and motor enthusiasts rarely get to experience in other arenas. As you know, we moved the camp last year – something that was very well received by all visitors, so it will be the same location this year. Welcome to Norway’s most rock’n roll weekend with lots of great entertainment – both on and off the track!

The Våler track is a very fast track. Which often results in heated gossip and entertaining fights. One of the most audience-friendly features is our new concept, “Big Entry”. Big Entry is all about getting to the audience stand as quickly as possible – and as crosswise as possible – in full gossip. Preferably backwards, if you have the clout for it! World drifting champion Fredric Aasbø is one of those who has previously invested heavily in “big entries” at Vålerbanen. Now he’s judging the competition itself – and confirms that the level at Vålerbanen is sky-high. Something we can confirm will be the case this year too!

Would you like to drive your car on a track? Now you have the opportunity! Of course, street driving is first and foremost about driving on a track. But be warned: this is an experience that almost always leaves you wanting more! Ready for speed and excitement? You’ll find an overview of all the types of driving that take place at Gatebil further down this page.

Lots of excitement, happy and festive people, full throttle on the Aftertrack, intense track driving, new and old acquaintances at the coolest camping area around. There are many reasons to attend this year’s first Gatebiltreff. Perhaps most importantly, you and thousands of other car enthusiasts will be treated to a weekend of the coolest cars and engines Norway has to offer! We guarantee a weekend filled with experiences you won’t soon forget.

Do you want to experience everything that happens at Gatebil, both during the day and in the evening? Then you need to stay at Gatebil camp! Here you will find useful information and some simple rules that are important to follow to ensure that everyone has the best possible experience at Gatebil.
NO ADVANCE BOOKING
At all Gatebil festivals there are large camping areas with space for everyone. Groups of friends who want to gather are encouraged to come together, or arrange with the guards that you save space for those who arrive a little later.
FESTIVAL TICKET GIVES PERSONAL ACCESS TO CAMPING AREAS
Anyone with a festival ticket can stay at the campsite. All vehicles in the camping area require a car/motorhome pass or bus/truck pass. With these tickets, caravans and tents are included.
FAMILY CAMP
At the festival camp, the atmosphere is often particularly good in the evenings. But there are also separate camps where it’s quieter – we call them family camps. You can see where these are on the area maps or just ask the Gatebil crew on arrival.
Showers and toilets
The location of showers and toilets is marked on the area map for each festival.
AFTERTRACK IN THE EVENING
At all Gatebil festivals there is Aftertrack in the evening. Concerts, shows and DJs – either on a large outdoor stage or in a tent. Everyone over the age of 18 with a festival ticket has access to Aftertrack.
RULES OF ORDER
CLEAN UP YOUR OWN CAMPING AREA – If there is a bit of a mess around your caravan during the festival, the police won’t ask you to clean it up, but it must be as clean as when you arrived before you go home. It is NOT allowed to leave sofas, refrigerators, broken caravans and the like. The area must be cleaned in garbage bags distributed by our cleaning team.
FIRE HAZARD, GLASS BOTTLES, DRIVING A MOPED – The fire hazard is something everyone must take seriously, and common sense applies. Disposable barbecues are forbidden, but ordinary barbecues on legs are allowed, unless otherwise announced before or at the festival. Glass bottles are also not allowed, as broken glass is harmful to both people and cars. It is also not permitted to drive mopeds, scooters and the like around the camp or depot area. ATVs towing racing cars to and from the depot are an exception.
LEAVE THE CAR! – At Gatebil camping it is forbidden to drive a car after kl. 21.00. Driving in the area is only permitted on arrival and departure. It is also not permitted to start the engine. Remember that if you are behind the wheel and have been drinking alcohol, the police can arrest you for drink-driving even if you do not start the car.
GUARDS AT GATEBIL
ProTect is responsible for maintaining order at Gatebil. The police are also on site, and both the fire brigade and infirmary are open 24 hours a day. See the area map or ask one of the Gatebil Crew members for help.
MUSIC
It should be quiet in all areas after kl. 02.00.
Loud music is not allowed on the family campsite, and it must be completely silent from 1:00 pm. 20.00.
The Aftertrack program for Vålerbanen Seasion Start Festival, which takes place on 29. – 31. May, will be announced soon. Stay tuned for updates!

Of course, street driving is first and foremost about driving on the track. That’s how it’s always been! Everyone can find their place according to car type, ambition level and driving style. Here’s an overview of all types of driving that will take place on Vålerbanen 2025!
STRAIGHT LINE
This group is for those who want to test their car’s speed and handling on the track – without drifting. If you’re interested in sledding or drifting, you’ll have to choose another group!
OPEN LINE
Perfect for beginners who want to skid around corners. In Open Line, you can swerve around corners with a little more space between the cars. However, it is not allowed to skid/drift on the straights or to use the break to set up the car into the turn. For experienced drifters, the Drift Line group is better.
DRIFT LINE ROOKIE
Ideal for those eager to drift all over the course. This group is perfect for building skills without needing 1000 horsepower or professional experience. Enjoy drifting all the way around the track!

GATEBIL EXTREME
Gatebil Extreme is Gatebil’s own Time Attack and racing series, with everything from home-built budget cars to fully professional former factory cars taking part. The series follows the FIA’s safety requirements, but otherwise you are almost free to do whatever you want with the car, and several have engines of over an incredible 1000 horses. Gatebil Extreme was started in 2005, and since then over 200 cars/drivers have participated.
EXTREME TIME ATTACK
In Time Attack, it’s best lap time that counts. Here, the track is open for 45 minutes, where participants can choose to drive only 1 lap, or 18 which is the maximum allowed. Anyone can drive into the pits or pit lane at any time to change tires and adjust the car, and out on the track again to try to drive even faster. There are 5 races in the series, 1 at each festival. The times from the Extreme Time Attack provide the starting line-up for the Extreme Race.
EXTREME RACE
Extreme Race is a racing series with a joint start and first to finish. The number of laps varies depending on which track is being used – Vålerbanen, Mantorp park, Circuit Meppen or Rudskogen. There are 10 races in the series, 2 at each festival.
REGISTRATION
Everyone with a licensed racing car is welcome to participate. For registration or questions – contact

Vålerbanen, Norsk Trafikksenter is located just 2 hours north of Oslo, midway between Elverum and Kongsvinger. Follow the E6 north from Oslo and take Rv3 towards Elverum. Then take Rv20 towards Braskereidfoss/Kongsvinger. If necessary, drive around Kongsvinger towards Elverum.

DO YOU WANT TO STAY IN A HOTEL?
If you don’t want to live the Gatebil life at the campsite by the track, we can recommend the new, beautiful Scandic Elgstua in Elverum, just 15-20 minutes from Vålerbanen.
