In 2024 Gatebil decided to shift its focus towards individual drifting competitions during each Gatebil event, instead of arranging a drifting series. This will we continue with for 2025. This gives more opportunities to those who are not visiting all the festivals, but are still very keen on hitting some scores and willing to fight for the podiums!
we are going to have a very special competition for drift drivers and drift loving spectators called Gatebil Drift Battle. The competition is pretty classical drift competition but features probably the best scandinavian drift drivers.
WHAT IS A DRIFT BATTLE?
Drift Battle is a competition in which two cars drift in formation. Judging criteria are different from those used in Solo Drifting. The lead car must aim to perform a perfect solo run, while the chase car must aim to mimic the run of the lead car, getting as close as possible without making any notable contact.
TOP 16
TOP16 means, that we, similarly as other drift competition organisers in 2024, will drop the lengthy qualification process and concentrate on the battles with pre-determinate driver bracket.
Participants
Only invited drivers by Gatebil. Participants has to have ordinary drifting license. To obtain this license, the car must have a cage and other safety equipment as it is required by Norwegian Autosport Federation (NBF). You can find more info about the requirements: HERE. All vehicles and driver equipment must pass a technical inspection before qualification.
Competitions are going to take place in these festivals:
will be announced soon. Stay tuned for updates!

* competitions are not going to count series points, which means that each time competition is held seperately with one winner in each battle.

The location and time in which the technical inspections will be carried out will be communicated before the event.
In 2024 there will be different tire rules from festival to festival.
Vålerbanen Season Start:
Only one tire will be approved for the rear wheels. The approved tire is Gatebil Partner Kenda 265-35/18 with 200 TW.
This rule is to make sure everyone will be driving on the same tire for a more exciting competition.
Rudskogen Race Festival:
Competition will be driven with tires according to the list that can be found on NBF’s pages.
Under tires and the Pro regulations you will find approved tires that you can use in the competition (width 255-265).
At the same time, we also offer the option of driving on Kenda as in Vålerbanen, they are also on the list and can be ordered in the same way as last time, ready delivered at Rudskogen.
Mantorp Season Finale:
Only one tire will be approved for the rear wheels. The approved tire is Gatebil Partner Kenda 265-35/18 with 200 TW.
This rule is to make sure everyone will be driving on the same tire for a more exciting competition.
Extended rules and more info will follow!
Each festival where we are going to hold Gatebil Drift Battles are going to be a separate competition and no series points throughout the season are going to be counted, which in the end of the season will give us three independent and unrelated winners. This gives all drivers the same chance of winning, no matter how many Gatebil festivals they visit in season 2024.
Prize ceremonies will be held on Gatebil Aftertrack during the events, where it will be possible. Some of the ceremonies will be held right after the race on Gatebil Podium next to Gatebil shop, which provides the chance for visitors to look closer at the winner cars together at one place, as well as meet and greet their heroes – drivers themselves!
To receive media accreditation for GDB, you must apply through the regular application system for Media in Gatebil Festivals. You will find full info here: MEDIA PASS
